WHAT'S NUEVO LATINOMENUSHOP INFOSCHEDULEEVENT REPORTSTAFF BLOGCAFE CARD
WHAT'S NUEVO LATINO?

It all began with the Puerto Rican, Dominican and Colombian communities in the melting pot of New York City, who had set up unique cafe-diners with a nod to their traditions. Although they are still very much loved by these communities today, it only seemed to be a matter of time until the Manhattan super-club “Copacabana” came along and picked up on this trend, upping the ante, transforming their “local” food appeal to a younger, hipper and a much wider market.

Overnight, it seems, the Nuevo Latino style had been born.

Tokyo can also boast a unique and diverse mix of communities too, indeed we’re all part of that global village, as in the concept behind our Wired Cafe. So that’s what we’re after, a diner that embraces community and diversity within this city. Not Nuevo Latino in the NY sense, nor the Miami sense, but in our own distinctive Tokyo style.

Our menu boasts ingredients such as the Sakura-Shoyu, a soy-sauce that the Japanese immigrant community in Brazil had developed from corn, which is now enjoying the unique status of being imported into Japan; one of our salads has been inspired by the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Also, we’ve added our very own touch to the Peruvian home-cooked treat such as the ‘Aji de gallina’

We’ve also got some delights in store for you to complete the meal on a Latin note too. Through our “coffee voyage”, you’ll be able to try out a different blend from South America from our monthly changing menu.

It would be great if you could check out what we have to offer, dishes that embrace cultures, seasonality, mixed in with a slice of humour, but always with love.
